Koya or mahua is the sacred tree found in the central regions of India around which the Gond Tribe base their lifestyle. The tree provides them with food, fodder and fuel and is abundantly found in the Pench National Park of Madhya Pradesh.
This collection consists of Gond and Chitrakathi stationery, inspired by the mighty creatures which roam the mesmerizing lands of the mahua tree.
The Pench National Park is famous for its ferocious Bengal Tigers. Also, Indian leopards, elephants and peacocks are among the magnificent fauna the forests have.
The motifs were chosen based on the fauna of the forest. The tiger and the elephant are motifs picked from Gond paintings and the boar and the peacock from Chitrakathi paintings. The motifs were further explored with the visual vocabulary of Gond and Chitrakathi.
